FACT CHECK: Image Claims To Show Israel Bombing Al-Qard Al-Hassan Foundation Association

An image shared on X claims to show Israel bombing the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Foundation Association on Oct. 20.

Verdict: Misleading

The image is from Oct. 6. It is not connected to the recent strikes on the association.

Fact Check:

Israel attacked Hezbollah-linked financial branches in targeted airstrikes in Beirut and other locations, according to The New York Times. This includes the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Foundation, per the outlet.

Social media users are claiming to show Israel bombing one of the buildings associated with the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Foundation. One user wrote, “Israel starts bombing the Al-Qard Al-Hassan Foundation Association…”

This claim is misleading. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the image is from Oct. 6. It is from a video published by Sky News Arabia and shows an Israel bombing run in Beirut. The headline reads, “A video documenting an Israeli raid on the southern suburbs of Beirut.”

Fake Reporter, an Israeli outlet that focuses on debunking misinformation around Israel and the Levant, fact-checked the same claim in an Oct. 21 tweet.

“October 6th, 2024, and reportedly depicts an IDF airstrike in Lebanon,” Fake Reporter tweeted. (RELATED: No, Video Does Not Show Su-24 Shot Down By F-16)
