A video shared on Threads claims to show independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stumbling over his words during a press conference.

Verdict: False

The video has been altered to make it seem that Kennedy was slurring his words.

Fact Check:

Kennedy’s campaign has been struggling to draw relevance in recent weeks, according to the Los Angeles Times. Kennedy’s campaign, though, has said that President Joe Biden’s exit from the race is drawing interest to the long-shot bid from Kennedy, the outlet reported.

Social media users are sharing a video of Kennedy, claiming it shows him mumbling and stumbling during a press conference. One user wrote, “Is RFK Jr. ok?.”

This claim is false as the video has been altered. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from a July 21 press conference that Kennedy did after Biden said he would drop out of the race.

The full video shows that Kennedy does not make the same stumbles as shown in the Threads video. For example, the video implies that he ends the press conference after a reporter asked if he was “confused.” In the full video, he actually continues the press conference and answers questions after the confused remark.
