A post shared on Facebook claims Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, Warren Buffett, purportedly said, “President Trump [is] making [the] best financial decisions in 50 years.”

Verdict: False

An advanced search of Buffett’s verified X account @WarrenBuffett does not generate the purported remark, and there is no other evidence suggesting Buffett made the purported remark.

Fact Check:

Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has increased its stakes in five Japanese trading houses, according to Fortune, which cited a recent regulatory disclosure. The investment follows a “major selloff” in the U.S. stock market, the outlet reported.

The Facebook post claims Buffett said, “President Trump [is] making [the] best financial decisions in 50 years.”

“‘President Trump [is] making [the] best financial decisions in 50 years.’ Warren Buffett,” the post, which features a photo of Buffett, begins. “The hard decisions the President makes today will benefit us tomorrow. America First,” it continues. The post does not provide a source to support its claim.
The claim is false. Check Your Fact performed an advanced search of Buffett’s verified X account @WarrenBuffett and did not find any reference to the purported remark. The purported remark is not featured on Berkshire Hathaway’s website, either. Likewise, President Donald Trump does not appear to have referenced the claim on his personal or government X accounts, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts. In addition, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true.
On March 14, Lead Stories debunked the claim. Although Buffett did not make the purported remark, he did comment on Trump’s tariffs during a recent CBS Sunday Morning interview, according to the outlet. Buffett said tariffs are “an act of war to some degree,” Lead Stories reported, citing the same interview.
Check Your Fact has contacted Buffett for comment.
