Verdict: False

The purported statement is not referenced on Trump’s TRUTH Social account, his official website, or any of his verified social media accounts, and there is no other evidence to support the claim.

Fact Check:

Trump’s aides are reportedly exploring “universal” tariffs that would cover critical imports, according to The Washington Post. While campaigning for president, Trump called for 10 or 20 percent tariffs on goods imported into the U.S., the outlet reported.

The Threads image, which has received over 400 likes as of writing, purports to show a TRUTH Social post from Trump.

“‘THERE’S ONLY ONE MAGA PRESIDENT and He’s still Married!'” the post, which appears to have been shared on Trump’s social media platform on Dec. 19, 2024, reads. The purported post seems to reference false claims that Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, planned on filing for divorce.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact reviewed Trump’s TRUTH Social account and did not find any reference to the purported post. Likewise, the claim cannot be found on his official website or his verified Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok accounts. In addition, Melania Trump has not publicly commented on the claim. Check Your Fact also did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Dec. 24, 2024, Logically Facts debunked the claim, indicating it was fabricated. According to the outlet, besides Threads, the fake image also circulated on X and Bluesky.

This is not the first time a false claim involving Trump has circulated online. Check Your Fact previously debunked a Threads image purporting to show a TRUTH Social statement from Trump in which he claimed he was “the guy in charge.”

Check Your Fact has contacted a Trump spokesperson for comment.
