The claim is false and originally stems from @RTNewsAmerica, a satirical account on X.

Back in September 2024, Cheney said he would be voting for Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential election, according to CNN. Cheney said there was “no greater threat” to the U.S. than now-President-elect Donald Trump, the outlet reported.

The X post claims Cheney purportedly died in December 2024.

“The Devil is going to [be] busy at his gate it seems… BREAKING: Dick Cheney has died at age eighty-three,” the post, which does not provide a source to support its claim, reads. The post also includes a photo of Cheney.

The claim is false and originally stems from @RTNewsAmerica, a satirical account on X. The account describes itself as a “parody artist,” according to its bio. “If you fell for my bait, you owe me eight dollars,” it adds. Likewise, Cheney’s daughter, former Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim via her verified social media accounts. If her father had actually died, Cheney would’ve released a statement, yet she hasn’t.

Additionally, Check Your Fact did not find any credible news reports to support the claim. In fact, the opposite is true. On Dec. 31, Lead Stories debunked the claim, indicating it stemmed from the same satirical account on X.
