A video shared on X claims to show the Russian Air Force bombing Syrian rebels.

Verdict: Misleading

The video is from at least 2019 and is not related to the current fighting.

Fact Check:

The Russian Embassy in Damascus advised its citizens to leave Syria as Syrian rebels pressed their offensive against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, according to the Moscow Times.

Social media users are claiming to show Russian airstrikes against the Syrian rebels. (RELATED: Video Claims To Show Iranian F-14 Flying Into Turkish Airspace)

“Judging by the video from Idlib and its environs, the main location of the HTS deployment, it is now much more dangerous for the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham militants to be there than to walk the streets of Aleppo, which was controlled by the Syrian government and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) The video shows the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force carrying out airstrikes on the positions of the HTS and SNA militants in the vicinity of Idlib,” reads one user’s post.

This claim is misleading. The video is from August 2019 or before, per a Facebook post of the video. The video’s caption reads, “Video showing moments of the hysterical and crazy bombing of Al-Habit by Russian, Iranian and Syrian forces
Night filming…These are moments of the bombing, so how can a stone withstand this bombing???”

It does not show recent fighting. Misbar also debunked the claim.
