A video shared on X claims to show Syrian Arab Army (SAA) heavy rocket fire from the Syrian rebels offensive in Aleppo.

Verdict: Misleading

The video is from 2020 and was taken during fighting in Idlib, which is not in Aleppo. It was also fighting between the Turkish military and the SAA.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming to show the SAA hitting rebel positions in the western part of Aleppo countryside. One user wrote,”The Syrian Arab Army is targeting HTS positions in the western Aleppo countryside with MLRS rockets.”

This claim is false. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that that the video is from 2020. It was posted to CNN Turkey’s website amidst clashes between the Turks and the Syrian regime’s forces with the headline,”Breaking news… Targets in Idlib were hit like this.”

“Following the clash in Idlib in which 4 of our soldiers were martyred and 9 of our soldiers were injured, footage of the Turkish Armed Forces hitting Regime elements with howitzers and mortar shells was released. President Erdoğan stated in his statement that around 30-35 Regime elements were neutralized,” reads the reporting.

MisBar and DFRAC both debunked the claim. Therefore, we rate this claim false. (RELATED: Can Brian Kemp Pardon Donald Trump?)
