FACT CHECK: Is Joe Rogan Replacing Rachel Maddow As MSNBC’s Prime-Time Host?
A post shared on Facebook claims podcaster Joe Rogan is purportedly replacing Rachel Maddow as prime-time host at MSNBC.
Verdict: False
The claim is false and originally stems from a Nov. 23 post made by the satirical Facebook page “SpaceX Fanclub.”
Fact Check:
Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” was the number one most-listened-to podcast on Spotify in 2024, according to Variety. Rogan’s podcast was also the top podcast in the U.S. for “the fourth year running,” the outlet reported.
The Facebook post, which has received over 300 likes as of writing, claims Rogan is purportedly replacing Maddow as prime-time host at MSNBC.
“Joe Rogan To Replace Rachel Maddow as MSNBC’s Prime-Time Host After Elon Musk Takeover,” the post reads. The post, which features side-by-side photos of Maddow and Rogan, does not provide a source to support its claim.
The claim is false and originally stems from a Nov. 23 post made by the satirical Facebook page “SpaceX Fanclub.” The Facebook page describes itself as posting satirical content via its bio, indicating that “nothing on this page is real.” The page’s bio also includes a link to the website “Esspots.com,” a satire site that is a subsidiary of the site SpaceX Mania.com. Likewise, Check Your Fact did not find the claim referenced on Rogan’s website or his verified social media accounts. Maddow also has not publicly commented on the claim via her website or verified social media accounts. MSNBC has not referenced the claim, either.
In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On Dec. 3, Snopes debunked the claim, stating it had originated via the same satirical Facebook page.
Check Your Fact has contacted Rogan and Maddow for comment.
