A post on X claims that Tesla CEO Elon Musk once stated that instead of ending world hunger, he would focus on “making life harder for trans people.”

Verdict: False

There is no proof that he said the quote attributed to him.

Fact Check:

X CEO Elon Musk has made headlines and enemies recently by his purchasing choices, his beliefs and his relationship with President-Elect Donald Trump. Some users, upset with Musk’s outspoken support of Donald Trump and the 1st Amendment, are fleeing to upstart competitor Bluesky, which promises to police speech more than Musk’s will. Musk will also be joining Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy in a task force called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aims to increase government efficiency and reduce the national debt.

A post on X claims that Musk said “You can eliminate hunger at a planetary scale. And instead, you say, ‘nah, Imma focus on making life harder for trans people.” However, there is no proof that he actually said this quote. A Google search for part of the quote turns up no results. The quote, if true, seems to imply sarcasm on Musk’s part, simply stating that he cares more about world hunger. The creator of the viral image is unknown.

Musk has been vocal about trans issues in the past, though. One of his 12 children has transitioned, and Musk has stated that gender ideology “killed” his son. He has moved his companies from California to Texas in response to gender identity laws. This story was first reported by Snopes.
