A post shared on social media purports the Kansas City Chiefs refused to host a Pride Night.

Verdict: False

The claim stems from satire.

Fact Check:

On Sunday The Buffalo Bills ended the Chiefs’ undefeated season in a game where Bills Quarterback Josh Allen ran for a 26-yard touchdown, NBC News reported. Patrick Mahomes was intercepted during the game, clinching the win for the Bills.

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, alleges that the team opted to not host a Pride event. The photo shows an image of the Chiefs’ coach and one of a Pride flag.

The caption reads, “Surprise move sends shockwaves across NFL: Kansas City Chiefs decline to host Pride Night, ‘It’s a woke agenda.'”

The claim is inaccurate. The claim stems from a satirical news outlet called Esspots.com. The article claims that the NFL team chose not to host the event because of the political agenda associated with it. However, the article offers no sources for the claim.

The website shares a disclaimer that reads, “Welcome to Esspots.com, a website that specializes in satire, parody, and humor. This is not the first time misinformation has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim Greta Thunberg posed with an explicit sign.
