FACT CHECK: Did Trump Post That He Was Told He Lost The Election?
A post shared on social media purports that President-elect Donald Trump posted that he was told he did not win the election.
Verdict: False
The claim stems from satire.
Fact Check:
Trump has announced Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his nominee for the Department of Health and Human Services Secretary. NPR reports that this announcement comes after Trump promised supporters that Kennedy will “go wild on health” in the Trump administration.
A post shared on Facebook allegedly shows a screenshot of a post on Trump’s Truth social account that suggests Trump will not serve as President. The post reads, “I am being told I didn’t win the election – ELECTION RESULTS IN DISPUTE IN KEY STATES. MASSIVE irregularities found, courts are getting involved. ELON RIGGED IT TOO! This is TOTAL WITCH HUNT and ELCTION INTERFERENCE at the highest levels! More to come!!”
The caption says, “You would know something about “rigging” now wouldn’t you Donald? Every accusation is a confession !!!”
The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that Trump shared this post. The post appears to stem from a satirical news outlet. The account shares a disclaimer in their bio that reads, “A parody account for the GOP’s interpretation of Jesus’s will and teachings. Half parody, half commentary, half theories.”
NBC News reported that election denialism has been spread online by some left-wing accounts. Social Media users have speculated about voter fraud and a potential recount in some states. (RELATED: Contrary To Threads Post, Jack Smith Has Not Been Fired As Of Nov. 6)
This is not the first time misinformation has circulated online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim Nancy Pelosi said Democrats would impeach President-elect Donald Trump before he gets elected.
