FACT CHECK: No, The Croatian President Didn’t Wear MAGA Hat

A post shared on X claims Croatian President Zoran Milanović wore a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat.

Verdict: False

The video shows a different man wearing the MAGA hat, not Milanović.

Fact Check:

Milanović and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković both congratulated former President Donald Trump for winning the 2024 presidential election, according to Croatia Weekly.

Social media users are claiming to show Milanović wore a MAGA hat. One user wrote, “Zoran Milanović, President of Croatia, wears a ‘Make America Great Again’ cap during a press briefing. [Everybody is getting into the act]…”

This claim is false. Through a keyword and image search, Check Your Fact found that the video shows Milorad Dodik, who is the President of Republika Srpska, an entity of Bosnia-Herzegovina. He wore the hat on Nov. 6, according to Logically Facts and a video posted to Facebook.

“Dodik with citizens in front of the Palace of the Republic, after Trump’s victory,” reads the Facebook post. (RELATED: Was Trump’s Name Misspelled On Ballots In Ohio?)

Milanović and Dodik are two different individuals, not the same person. Therefore, we rate this claim false.
