Social media users are claiming that Trump announced that he had lied about Project 2025 “hours” after winning the 2024 presidential election One user wrote, “Trump announces he lied about Project 2025 within hours of being declared the winner. Marinate in it Trumpers.”

This claim is false. Check Your Fact conducted an internet search, which did not yield any results for this claim. No credible media outlets have reported that Trump said he lied about Project 2025.

Check Your Fact reviewed Trump’s website and did not find any statements about Project 2025. Check Your Fact also reviewed Trump’s Truth Social account, which did not have any statements about Project 2025.

Trump has consistently distanced himself from the Heritage Foundation-led effort. For example, his campaign issued a July 30 statement saying that “Project 2025 had nothing to do with the campaign.”

“Reports of Project 2025’s demise would be greatly welcomed and should serve as notice to anyone or any group trying to misrepresent their influence with President Trump and his campaign— it will not end well for you,” the statement reads.

The Dispatch Fact Check also debunked this claim.
