A post on X claims Vice President Kamala Harris was inebriated during a speech in which she refers to herself as a “joyful warrior.”

Verdict: False

This video has been digitally altered. There is no proof she made any remarks of this nature.

Fact Check:

Harris and former President Donald Trump are in a virtual tie for the 2024 presidential election, with some polls suggesting Trump gaining ground at a more rapid pace, according to Vox. The election, however, is still too close to call based on current polling, the outlet reported.

A post on X being shared shows a clip from a speech Vice President Harris where she clearly sounds under the influence. In the video, she starts by saying, “Never let anyone take your joy. From you? I call myself a joyful warrior.”

This video is digitally altered, however. Even though the words she said are what was actually said, the sound was slowed down in a deliberate attempt to make Ms. Harris sound like she was drunk. There is no proof that the Vice President was actually drunk in this clip.

Check Your Fact ran the video through popular AI-detection website Deepware, which considers it suspicious. (RELATED: JD Vance Claims Kamala Harris Plagiarized Sections Of Her Book)

The real footage is from a 2022 town hall in the Philippines that was dedicated to women’s empowerment. The Vice President can be heard saying the exact words, but at normal speed.

The source of the manipulated video is unknown, and it is being shared throughout pro-Trump accounts on X. The viral post was widely circulated by Juanita Broaddrick, a right-wing activist who is also known for accusing then-president Bill Clinton of sexual assault in the late 1990s.
