A post shared on X claims to show gun-toting Americans in a fast food establishment.

Verdict: False

The image is generated by artificial intelligence. It is not genuine.

Fact Check:

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris announced new executive actions on firearms, including one that would create a task force that would assess the danger of unserialized 3D printed firearms, according to Politico.

Social media users are sharing an image of gun-toting Americans in a fast food establishment. One user wrote, “They shouldn’t even be allowed anywhere near a fast food joint.”

This image, however, is AI-generated. First, the text in the background of the image is incomprehensible and unreadable. There is no clear indicator of which fast food establishment this is, and the rifle barrels are also larger than expected.

Check Your Fact also used Hive Moderation, which detects images created by AI. Hive Moderation found that there is a 99.9 percent chance that the image was AI-generated or deepfake content, adding more evidence that this image is fake.

Shayan Saradarizadeh, a BBC Verify journalist, said that the image was “AI-generated ” in a Sept. 25 tweet. (RELATED: No, Kamala Harris was not Intoxicated During Her Speech)

“Nowhere, dude. It’s AI-generated,” Sardarizadeh tweeted.
