A post shared on Facebook claims that media personalities Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens will replace late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel.

Verdict: False

There is no such announcement on the ABC Network website. In 2022, Kimmel renewed his contract with ABC for three more years.

Fact Check:

Jimmy Kimmel, host of ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!,’ is the United State’s longest-running late-night talk show host.  The show is now in its 20th season and its episodes feature a wide array of celebrity guests.

A post shared on Facebook claims that media personalities Candace Owens and Tucker Carlson will be replacing Kimmel. “ABC shakes up late-night TV: Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens replace Jimmy Kimmel,” The caption reads.

The claim is false. There is no announcement or press release on the ABC Network website that suggests Carlson and Owens will be replacing Kimmel. No reputable news sources have reported on this claim.

In September of 2022, Kimmel renewed his contract with ABC for three more years. “ABC announced Tuesday that Kimmel has signed a three-year contract extension to stay on as host and executive producer,” a CNN news article reads.

In August, YouTube Channel ‘U.S. News’ uploaded a video debunking this claim. “In mid-July 2024, a rumor circulated online suggesting that conservative commentator Candace Owens would join former Fox News host Tucker Carlson on a new late-night show. This purported show was said to be a replacement for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC. However, there is NO TRUTH behind this claim,” The video’s description reads.

In July, a separate post made on Facebook claimed that Carlson and Owens were teaming up for “ABC’s New Late-Night Show.” The post contains a ‘RATED SATIRE’ disclaimer in its top right corner. (RELATED: Did Candace Owens Accept Deal to Create an ABC Morning Show?)
