A post shared on X claims to show illegal immigrants at a Florida Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) location.

Verdict: False

Illegal immigrants are unable to get driver’s licenses in Florida. The people in line appear to be Americans, according to one Florida government official.

Fact Check:

Social media users are sharing a video of people lined up outside a Florida DMV. The video includes a post that says illegal aliens are lined outside of the DMV.

Florida does not allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses, according to United We Dream. Driver’s licenses issued to illegal immigrants in other states are also not valid in Florida, Reuters reported.

It also appears that the DMV location is in Lauderdale Lakes, not Pompano. Check Your Fact geolocated the video to Lauderdale Lakes, Florida.

Local 10 reported that long DMV lines were impacting South Florida residents due to a third-party vendor illegally reselling appointments.

Christine Pushaw, an official with the Florida governor’s office, said that posting “unfounded speculation like this only undermines & distracts from any legit concerns about election integrity.”

“Can’t believe people are still falling for this psy op. Local reporters in South Florida have actually done news stories on long lines at certain DMVs and interviewed the people standing in line; it’s clear from their interviews that they are Americans. Illegal aliens cannot get driver licenses in Florida,” Pushaw tweeted. “If you live in Broward County or are at all familiar with the area you would know it’s quite diverse. American citizens can be any race. Posting BS unfounded speculation like this only undermines & distracts from any legit concerns about election integrity.”
