FACT CHECK: Did Jack Black Get Kicked Out Of The RNC?
A post shared on social media purports that actor Jack Black was thrown out of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee when he tried to get on stage.
Verdict: False
The claim is inaccurate.
Fact Check:
Black announced that he canceled the rest of the Tenacious D tour after his bandmate’s controversial statement during a concert in Australia, BBC News reported. Bandmate Kyle Gass said, “Don’t miss Trump next time,” when asked to make a birthday wish on stage, which Gass has since apologized for.
A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, alleges Black tried to get on stage during Kid Rock’s performance. The post shared two images of Kid Rock performing and two of Black.
The caption reads, “Breaking: Jack Black Begged To Be On Stage With Kid Rock At RNC, Was Thrown Out Immediately, ‘No Wokes Allowed Here.'”
The claim is inaccurate. The claims stem from a satirical news outlet called Esspots.com. The article claims that security removed Black while he tried to join Rock on stage.
The website features a disclaimer that identifies the site as parody, “Esspots (A Subsidiary of SpaceXMania.com specializing in Satire and Parody News), your one-stop destination for satirical news and commentary about the United States of America.”
The associated Facebook account is called SpaceX Fanclub and clearly identifies as satire saying, “We post SATIRE, nothing on this page is real.” (RELATED: Did Starbucks Join The Heritage Foundation As An Official Sponsor Of The 2024 RNC?)
This is not the first time a satire post has been shared as real online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim a woman was suing her parents for having her.
