Verdict: Misleading
The claim is inaccurate. Trump was making a joke about hot weather during the rally.
Fact Check:
Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg will testify before Congress after Trump’s sentencing, The New York Times reported. Brag and another prosecutor, Matthew Colangelo, will be questioned by the House Judiciary Committee.
The Biden campaign shared a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, allegedly showing Trump saying he doesn’t care about his voters. The video shows Trump speaking at a rally in Nevada while wearing a hat with his campaign slogan.
“I don’t want anybody going on me,” he says. “I need every voter. I don’t care about you, I just want your vote.”
The caption reads, “Trump: I don’t care about you. I just want your vote.”
The claim is inaccurate. Credible news reports, such as Snopes, have indicated that Trump made this statement as a joke. The video with full context is available on C-SPAN. The video shows that Trump was talking about the hot weather at the rally. At about 48:55, he mentions a breeze before indicating that he does not want anyone leaving.
The Secret Service expressed concern for the health of the attendees in the heat, according to the Associated Press. The temperature at the rally was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, but the report indicated that Trump announced they would take care of anyone that needed it during the rally.
Trump made a joke about the heat saying that he didn’t want anyone to leave because he needs their vote. The crowd can be heard laughing with him. He followed up those comments by making a joke about the media saying, “See now the press will take that, they’ll say ‘he said a horrible thing.’” (RELATED: Did Melania Trump Say This About A Possible House Arrest For Former President Donald Trump?)
