FACT CHECK: Did Dwayne Johnson Start Working In Elon Musk’s New Film Studio?
A post shared on social media purports that actor Dwayne Johnson quit Hollywood to work in Elon Musk’s new film studio.
Verdict: False
The claim is from a satirical news outlet.
Fact Check:
Musk recently announced that the full rebrand of Twitter to X is final after the comapny moved to the “X.com” domain from “Twitter.com,” according to CBS News. Musk posted that “All core systems are now on X.com”.
A post shared on Facebook alleges Johnson is working in a new film studio that Musk created. The caption reads, “Breaking: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Abruptly Leaves Hollywood to Join Elon Musk’s Controversial New Non-Woke Film Studio – What Does This Mean for His Career and the Future of Cinema?”
The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests this claim is accurate. The claim stems from an article on the satirical news outlet called SpaceXMania. The article claims that the traditional Hollywood studios have become too ‘woke’ for Johnson and he chose to work with Musk to create a new studio.
The website features a disclaimer in their ‘about section’ that reads, “Please note that the article under the category “SATIRE” are satirical in nature and are not meant to be taken seriously. These articles are meant to be humorous and are often entirely made up. (RELATED: Video Claims To Show King Of Denmark Waving Palestinian?)
Furthermore, there is no such announcement on any of Johnson’s social media accounts. Likewise, Musk has not announced the creation of a film studio on his X account.
