FACT CHECK: Did CNN Show This Chyron During Press Conference With Ilhan Omar?
A post shared on social media purports a CNN chyron claimed Minnesota Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar said, “get rid of the Jews to end antisemitism.”

The claim stems from a satirical outlet.
Fact Check:
Omar received an endorsement from the Minnesota DFL Party over a city council member who is also running, Axios reported. Don Samuels nearly defeated Omar in 2022 and claims she “focuses too much on international issues,” the outlet reported.
A post shared on Facebook purports a CNN chyron claimed Omar made an anti-Semitic statement during a press conference. The photo shows her speaking at a podium with an alleged CNN chyron shown below.
“Omar: Get rid of Jews to end antisemitism,” the alleged chyron reads.
The claim is inaccurate. The image was fabricated. The claim stems from a satirical outlet called the Babylon Bee. The article headline is very similar to the chyron and the article includes a photo of the same event with the same chyron. The headline reads, “Ilhan Omar: ‘Antisemitism Wouldn’t Be A Problem If We Got Rid Of All The Jews.’”
The post removed any reference to the Babylon Bee or to parody and satire. The website clearly identifies as satire. Their disclaimer says, “The Babylon Bee is the world’s best satire site, totally inerrant in all its truth claims. We write satire about Christian stuff, political stuff, and everyday life.”
