The claim neither appears on Hochul’s website nor her verified social media accounts. There is no evidence Hochul made the remark.
Fact Check:
On Feb. 28, Hochul approved a new congressional map that provides “a modest boost” to Democratic candidates in New York’s battleground districts, according to CBS News. These changes to the congressional map could impact control of the U.S. House of Representatives, the outlet reported.
“NY Gov. Hochul warns truckers,” text overlay included on a photo of the Democratic New York Governor reads. “Not delivering to NY is a hate crime against Illegals, and because Wall Street and the Fed. Reserve are in NY, the Ruling on Trump set precedent, hence giving her authority to empty their bank accounts and seize their homes,” it continues. The post, which has received over 100 likes, does not provide a source to support its claim.
The claim is false, as the remark neither appears on Hochul’s website nor her verified social media accounts. Likewise, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports suggesting Hochul made the purported remark. In fact, the opposite is true. USA Today also debunked the claim in a Feb. 28 article.
Additionally, the Trucking Association of New York has not publicly commented on the claim. (RELATED: No, Donald Trump Did Not Endorse Joe Biden For Reelection)
Truckers recently threatened to boycott deliveries to New York in support of 2024 hopeful and former President Donald Trump following a judge’s decision to fine him $355 million for supposedly “inflating his net worth,” according to the New York Post. Shortly after the news broke, one trucker, who uses the name “Chicago Ray” backpedaled on the planned protest but reiterated his support for Trump on social media, Fox News reported.
Check Your Fact has contacted Hochul’s office for comment and will update this piece accordingly if one is received.
